Hike Scotland

Hiking is something that I have always done throughout my life, but I have recently taken it on as an official hobby. While many out enjoy aspects of hiking: the scenery, fresh air, or physical activity,

I take hiking pretty serious. I am always looking for new ways to push myself the limit. Whether that limit is physically being able to reach the summit of some mountain range, mentally being able to cope with dangerous hikes, or maintaining a positive attitude in times of trouble, I have focused on all of these aspects of my hobby. This is not to say that I am a professional hiker, if those even exist. I just really enjoy all aspects of the activity.

A Piece of Most Famous Vienna Cake

Of the many attributes that characterize a city, local cuisine is often at the top of the list. Philadelphia has its cheese steak sandwiches, Chicago and New York both vie for the best slice of pizza, and Nice, France has its eponymous tuna salad. Other cities have less well-known culinary specialties, but the local food item is no less important to the city’s identity.

A Merry Golf Holiday Season

As the crisp, cool weather of early autumn gives way to the cold and wind of winter, many golfers sink into a sandtrap of depression. Spending too long off the green, they can become listless and uninspired. However, there are many ways that the holiday season can raise the spirits of even the most snowbound of golfing enthusiasts. Golf themed presents can provide both activities for the winter and something to look forward to once the fairways are again open.

Golf World Records

Amongst the records for peas stuffed up one’s nostrils and hotdogs eaten in minutes, it’s easy to forget the more impressive, not to mention weirder, records held in the more mundane disciplines. Golf actually has a whole wealth of bizarre records, some so extreme that they will probably still be held for many years to come.

Great Scottish Exports

When it comes to great Scottish exports, the first thing that comes to most people’s mind is Scottish whisky and rightly so. Scottish whisky is drunk in every corner of the earth. From Africa to the furthest tips of the Northern Hemisphere, the drink is known and associated with Scotland.

There are however other great exports from Scotland. Some might say North Sea oil is arguably Scotland’s most important export, but there are less controversial goods which Scotland exports to other parts of the world – shortbread, for instance.

Irn-Bru: The Great Scottish Beverage

Whiskey, haggis, bagpipes, kilts, ginger hair and ruddy faces are just a few of the things that should come to mind from the word ‘Scotland.’ But one thing that’s forgotten is another Scottish beverage, one that’s usually eclipsed by whiskey, but one that’s still very important to Scottish popular culture. Irn-Bru is a soft, fizzy drink that’s sold in cans and bottles throughout the UK, though it’s most famously sold in Scotland. It’s fair to call Irn-Bru Scotland’s equivalent to Coca Cola, as, after all, it outsells coke and is the most popular fizzy drink in the country.

The Trip That Changed Her Life

My mother retired about 3 years ago from being a school teacher. Ever since she retired her whole life changed. She used to have this routine that filled up a big part of her life. She would go to work in the morning for the whole day and then back home she would do a little cleaning, do some home-work like correcting copies and then maybe watch a movie. And this routine was filling her life.

Short Term Lets Provide Solution to Cost of Holiday Apartments in London

Finding holiday rentals in the United Kingdom can be a daunting prospect for travelers planning to work their way around the world.
Working in London may earn you more, but the cost of holiday apartments can make a huge dent in the pocket.
London holiday apartment rental is more than double the cost of holiday rentals in the north of the country, but, again, you are unlikely to earn as much.
A compromise for this is to look for short-term lets on websites, such as Gumtree or Craigslist.
Short-term lets in established houses or apartments are more commonplace in the capital where the population is more transient.
Teachers going traveling for the summer or backpackers choosing to visit Europe for short periods may rent their rooms for short-lets in shared homes.
An issue to consider when opting for this over a hostel or holiday apartment is that property goes very quickly.
A room central to London’s transport links at a reasonable price may go within hours of posting as people rush to get the best deal.
Living in this way, may also pose problems if you find long-term work, but only find short-term stays as you will have to move on and on and on.
Minimum rental contracts are usually six months, which is a big commitment to visitors on a visa with a specific time period.
There are ways of getting around this, by getting sponsored by a company that likes your work or by applying for a student visa.
However, the United Kingdom government has recently cracked down on immigration, including student permits, so it is wise to check this before you go.
Do your research to find out what your average spend per day will be, including the high price of accommodation in the capital.

Holiday Rentals That Travel With You

If holiday apartments around Australia are giving you a headache, why not consider holiday rentals that travel with you.
Committing to a six-month contract for holiday apartment rentals can restrict your sightseeing to two places if you are on a working holiday visa for 12 months.
Instead some backpackers are opting to

The Protein Man’s Placard

A legendary sight along Oxford Street for decades until his death, Stanley Green marched up and down the high street with a homemade placard decrying Protein. Yes, that’s right, Stanley Green ran a one-man campaign against eating or consuming any form of protein for the aggression and anarchy ingestion of the substance wrought upon mankind. By the way, sitting is bad for you too.

Now housed in the Museum of London, Mr. Green’s cardboard and wood placard stands as a silent testament to the highly principled, but slightly unhinged mind. It simply states “Less Lust. By Less Protein. Meat, Fish, Bird, Egg, Cheese, Peas, beans, Lentils…and Sitting”. Daily, under power of a small broiled egg and porridge, Mr. Green would ride his bicycle into London and march up and down Oxford Street with the placard held high, warning the world of the dangers of eating protein. He postulated that the energies within were responsible for most, if not all of the evils of the modern world, and it was his job to educate everyone about it, and he did so daily for twenty-five years.

Visitors to London might miss such an unusual exhibit piece if they were stuck on a weekend schedule, forced to race around the town seeing all of the cliché sights. For visitors however, who utilize short term rentals London opens itself up, and they can see all of the things that lay off the beaten path. For visitors who stay in a holiday apartment London can offer greater savings over staying in a traditional hotel.
