El Morro in San Juan

Have you ever been in the sunshine Puerto Rico? If you haven't, then you need to visit it. Because this is one of the most warm and exotic places in the world. It has a lot to show and offer you and it's full of historic places and the best Puerto Rico hotels.

The country is an unincorporated territory of United States and consists of several small islands. Its capital San Juan is the most populous city in Puerto Rico and it's the main place for every tourist. The city is separated in three parts as the most famous one and full of interesting places is the Old San Juan.

When you visit this amazing city, you definitely should see the most remarkable building – El Morro. This is a 16th century citadel built by the Spanish in 1539. Its initial purpose was to protect the entrance of the bay and the port of San Juan. Now El Morro is the most explored attraction in the city visited by two million people a year.

The construction has been through several occupations. From 1539 until 1898 it has been under Spanish Rule. Then the American Military occupied it until 1961, and now it is officially declared World Heritage Site and announced National Park.

If you want to spend one unforgettable New Year's Eve, you definitely should visit San Juan. This amazing place under the sun is full of emotions and great offers as well as the most luxury hotels in Puerto Rico.

The Pantheon

There are a few interesting places where you can spend the holidays and according to me one of them is Rome. In one of the most ancient cities in Europe, you can find many things to do and many landmarks to visit, and of course luxury Rome hotels.

The capital of the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire is full of ancient buildings as the Pantheon, for example. It was build by Marcus Agrippa as a temple and its name means "to every god". People claimed that it name comes from the many statues of gods around it. The building is circular with a large opening to the sky and even today its dome is considered as one of the biggest in the world.

The Pantheon later was rebuilt by Emperor Hadrian and it is still one of the best preserved Roman buildings though it has been used all the time. During the period when it was known as "Santa Maria Rotonda", it was used as a Roman Catholic church.

There are many more interesting facts about the Pantheon, that you don't know but you can understand if you just visit it. Now it is the most appropriate time because you can take an advantage of the special holiday prices that many of the luxury hotels in Rome offer.

The University of Cambridge

With the beginning of the new year, we start making plans about the next one. If you haven't considered yet what you would like to do, you can think about your education. Studying in the second oldest university in the United Kingdom is a great idea. All you need to do is book a room in one of the luxury hotels in Cambridge.

The university was established in 1209 by scholars that left Oxford and even today the two institutions are compared very often with each other. They both have many common features and also a long history of rivalry.

Cambridge has one of the best pedagogical systems and ranks as the top university on the Old continent and in the world. It is one of the three universities that form the “Golden Triangle” together with Oxford and London.

31 colleges form the University of Cambridge and three of them admit women only. Each college has its own property and income. Some of them are very large but some are smaller. The main method of teaching is the supervision as every student receives from one to four supervisions per week.

May be because of its long history, the university has developed many different myths and legends, most of them untrue, of course. You can become part of this famous institution, if you just explore Cambridge by yourself. The city offers variety of things to do and some of the best Cambridge hotels.

Paris: The Elegant Gardens

Some of the most beautiful gardens in Europe are in Paris. The city of Light has an elegant street planning so the spacious parks are just an accessory to the overall exquisite setting. Enjoy a tour around some of the most grandiose Paris gardens.
Jardin de Luxembourg - is a little landmark of natural woods. The entrance is through le Petit Luxembourg Museum - the Little Museum of Luxembourg, a common place for art exhibitions. Along the little pond you will easily get near the Luxembourg castle - Palais du Luxembourg. This magnificent building is a former royal residence and is now the headquarters of the French Senate.  The building quite resembles Hotel Paris la Defense
When you get to the far end of the park you will be able to notice the dome of Sacre Coeur Cathedral on the top of Montmartre.
Jardin des Tuileries - are few steps away from the Louvre complex. They start with an arch not that impressive as the Triumphal arch. A pond in the centre of it is often decorated by artists. The garden itself is like an open art gallery with all the statues placed around.
Le jardin du Patio Andalou is one the splendid gardens of Hotel Paris Arc de Triomphe. It is not Bois de Bologne, but this little garden is a real diamond among the busy with traffic streets.

Paris: La Bastille

Paris has a lot to offer to foreign culture explorers. There are many places to discover. Today's destination is the notorious Bastille.

To get to la Bastille it is more practical to catch the metro from Orly Hotels. The station is Bastille. You will get directly in the centre of Place of the Bastille. Here used to be the horrifying prison, taken over by the rebels and completely destroyed durin the Revolution on July 14th 1789. Now here stands the July Colomn, built to commemorate the memory of all who died in the name of the Freedom. A golden sculpture on the very top of the colomn marks the achieved freedom.
Instead of the bastille prison you will now find L'Opera de la Bastille. A sparkly modern building all in glass and silver. The opera is one of the most remarkable projects implemented by President Mitterrand in 1989.
Now you can take a quick walk in the surrounding area. Proceed to Rue de la Roquette. You will gradually get close to the former feminine prison. Public executions took place here, centuries ago. The street is full of original shops and fine restaurants.
A perfect end of this walk amongst the ancient places of terror in the French capital is a peaceful dinner in Hotel Charles de Gaulle or any other hotel offering a panoramic view of Paris. Make this day a good memory.

Venice Airport

Venice is very famous with its water canals but you still need to use a car sometimes. The best way is to hire one so to travel easier, especially from the airport to the centre. Marco Polo International is the main Venice Airport and it is situated seven miles to the northeast of the city. The airport is one of the busiest and it's operating many domestic flights, too.

It is not hard to find transportation in the region of the airport but still the best way is using a car. When you arrive in Venice, you can ask for any information on the ground floor. There is public transport booking desk and car hire as well as any other tourist information.

On the terminal's first floor, there are the check-in area and the Departure lounge. This area contains restaurants and cafes, also banking services and different shops selling cosmetics, presents and books. You can buy gifts from there, but there are many of these shops in the city area, too.

It's good to know how to manage at the airport, but it's also important to have your hotel booked when you get there. Do not wait for the last moment, if you want a room in some of the best Venice hotels. Most of them offer special holiday prices and Christmas packages. Enjoy the luxury and hospitality in the most visited hotels in Venice.

Paris is welcoming you. The city of light acts like a magnet for tourists. The capital of France is full of surprises. Let us take a tour of the Grands Boulevards to the Place de l'etoile.

To get to the most grandiose boulevard in Paris catch the metro to station Arc de Triomphe or just find Arc de triomphe hotels. It is the beginning of the so-called Road of Triumph. In the centre of it is the Triumphal Arch, one of the largest in the world. When you are there, go to the top of it to see Paris form a bird's eye view. The gorgeous Arch is in the very centre of Place de l'etoile. This square is shaped like a star and the grand boulevards stream like rays from the arch. Champs Elysées is one of them. It is a real ray of light at night.

To the west you will be able to notice Bois de Boulogne (the Boulogne Forest). La Defense - the business area of Paris is in the opposite direction. Apart from the famous Hotel la defense, there are many other modern buildings - skyscrapers and shopping centres.

Do not miss to visit the Virgin Megastore with loads of books and CDs. It is one of the many non-stop 24/7 open stores on Champs Elysées. Fine luxury restaurants and pubs make it the boulevard of boulevards.

Take your time to contemplate the grandeur of Paris and its architects' talent.

Rome or Venice

The holidays are almost here and it is time to start thinking about where to spend them. It is great if the answer of this question is Italy, but you still have to think about which part of Italy you want to explore. There are two very interesting destinations where you can have unforgettable vacation: Rome and Venice. I know it is hard to pick up one that's why I'll try to help you.

It doesn't matter which time of the year you will choose because both Venice and Rome are beautiful through the whole time. Of course, each season has something magical, especially the winter. This is the best time to visit the City of Bridges and have a romantic experience with a gondola. Grand Canal is perfect for this purpose, to spend a few private moments with the loved one.

On the other hand, Rome is not less romantic. It is the 3rd most visited city in Europe and has a lot to offer. Among the famous landmarks are the Colosseum and the St. Peter's Basilica. The first one is the largest amphitheatre built ever made for the gladiatorial contests and spectacles and the St. Peter's Basilica is located in the Vatican city. It has the largest interior of any other church and is a great place for a romantic trip.

If you already decided to spend the holidays in Italy, you can always visit both places. Have a few days in the romantic Venice hotels that offer precious experience for Christmas and then head toward one of the luxurious hotels in Rome to enjoy the hospitality and the Italian style.

Notre Dame de Paris and the River Seine - part 2

We continue our tour around Paris Ile dе la Cité. Just to remind you we were near the Sainte Chapelle yesterday, if you want to start the trip from its beginning read the previous post Notre Dame de Paris and the River Seine

Just behind la Conciergerie is Sainte Chapelle - one of the most spectacular chapels in Paris. Sainte Chapelle is a typical Gothic high-vaulted cathedral built in 1264 by St. Louis King of France. The cathedral is one of the most delicately decorated in Paris with its colourful stained-glass works and the effective restoration of the walls and the tiges. Numerous chamber orchestras perform here, so it is a perfect chance for all chamber music lovers to go to a concert in on of the most grandiose churches in Europe.

It is time to take a break, but if Hotel la Defense is too far away for you to have your lunch there simply go to Brasserie bazar on 49 "Rue des Ecoles" and try some escargots (snails) or the pepper steak called "pavé au poivre". Now that you have feasted your eyes on Medieval architecture it is time to feast on some traditional French Cuisine.

Now let's go to the legendary Notre Dame de Paris. The stone foundations of Victor Hugo's epic cathedral were laid in the early 1163, but the entire building process was concluded in year 1300. Notre dame has witnessed some of the greatest moments in French history from medieval executions to the crowning of Emperor Napolean I. Faces and silhouettes of important people from the rich French history are eternalized on to the walls and engraved through frescoes and sculptures.

Venice – The City of Bridges

The located in northern Italy city is one of the biggest tourist destinations not only in the country but in Europe. It is famous with its water channels and romantic places to visit. But there are many other interesting sites that deserve to be seen, too.

I recently understood there were water taxis and buses and this is what makes the city unique. You can take a tour to the San Marco Square. There are a few landmarks as the Doge's Palace located here. It was named on Doges who ruled during the Byzantine era. St. Mark's Basilica is another must to see. It is the most famous church in Italy.

It depends on what time of the year you will choose, but you can enjoy the Carnival of Venice known as very interesting event. It is annual festival which occurs usually in February. The tradition is that everybody is wearing a mask and there is no identity between the social classes. It is usually visited by more than 30,000 people every year.

The Magical City of Rome

Rome, the capital of Italy, is also a cultural European capital. Crowds gather in front of the famous Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Sistine Chapel and all other tourist attractions. But is it all about the monuments?! I have another idea of a trip to Rome.
Visiting all these famous destinations is one of the best aspects of the travelling itself. But just think of all the crowds and nervous people pushing their way in and out. You'd better pick a not so busy time to go there, the winter is perfect, as the big tourist flow is in the summer.
A more pleasurable tour or Rome would rather be walking around the city at sunset, when the Eternal city is under the moonlight. Take a trip to the Colosseum now, it is much better, isn't it?
You can just book a room in some of the Rome hotels and simply relax gazing at the panoramic view. Enjoy sleeping in the lavishly decorated old-style rooms. Gorgeous place for a romantic holiday.
So remember to do these things while you are in Rome. Taste the real cappuccino and order a genuine pizza Margarita. Meet some Italians. They are cheerful and open-minded people, eager to communicate. They would show you around, and are a good company.
Choose carefully the place to stay, you should make a good memory of this trip. Pick an affordable Hotel Cavalieri or a hostel. It is up to you. But make sure you have the time of your life.

The Walled City – San Juan

The most populated city in Puerto Rico was founded in 1521. It is the capital of the unincorporated US territory situated in northeastern Caribbean Sea. The country consists of a main island and a few smaller ones and has very rich history to reveal.

The city is divided into three areas. The most interesting one is the Old San Juan, which is very famous with its historical sights, great architecture and sculptures. When you visit it, you definitely should pass by The Poet's Passage – a small shop situated on City Hall square. There are Tuesday readings very popular amongst the people on the island.

San Juan was called the Walled City because of the colonial walls built by the Spanish in order to protect it from invaders. This is something that must be seen considering it is a famous landmark.

The good news is that the whole city could be seen without using any kind of transportation. Everything is on walking distance including the museums and the restaurants. But you surely won't be able to see all this for a day. That's why when choosing an accommodation, check San Juan Hilton hotel. It offers the most luxurious hotel rooms with amazing panoramic view.

Phoenix – The City of Sun

The biggest city in the state of Arizona can offer you a lot of fun and things to do. It is great to visit through the whole year and especially in the winter when the temperature is 65 degree Fahrenheit. Phoenix resorts have the most luxurious hotels and interesting outdoor activities.

The full of historical places city can show you famous sites like Arizona Science Centre and Arizona Capitol Museum. The last one is always free to visit and you can learn a lot about the state's history there.

You may be surprised but it is possible to go skiing also in Arizona. Although the temperatures are too high, there are a few days in the year cold enough for snow. Arizona Snowbowl is situated in the San Francisco Peaks and the ski area offers over 2,300 feet of vertical drop.

Arizona is a desert state and it was the place where many Western movies were filmed. The Desert Botanical Garden offers great views and nature to see. If you want to spend your Christmas holiday in a warm place, then Phoenix resorts are the right place for you. You can also enjoy other outdoor activities as hiking and swimming.

Discover Portugal

We are born to live, to explore all the beauties of the world and then to share our experiences. We are born to travel, to discover, to create. When we go abroad and visit a foreign destination we contemplate the work of architects, the ancient or contemporary monuments of the human mind.
What a genius one should be to build something that can last for centuries. But now, we are not going to explore the Egyptian pyramids. We are going straight to Portugal.

If you have the chance to visit the western-most part of Europe, do it!!! Portugal is a magnificent place, perfect for a summer vacation and suitable for the Christmas holidays with its mild winter temperatures. But this is not all. Portugal has a lot more to offer.

Portuguese Architecture: of all the things that fascinate me when traveling abroad, architecture is one of the most interesting aspects of exploring a foreign country. The typical old architecture in Portugal is represented by late Gothic 16th century towers, castles and fortresses and Baroque and Renaissance buildings. Cloisters in Manueline style are the most distinguished. You can see such buildings even in Lisbon. Hilton Resort Portugal fully represents this architecture style.

Portugal has a splendid nature and beautiful wide beaches. The country is among the few unpolluted countries in Europe. You can take a boat trip in one of the most picturesque side of Portugal, the valley of the Douro river has a breathtaking landscape.

Portugal boasts with some of the best luxury hotels such as Hilton Algarve. Spend a few days there and you will never want to leave this little heaven on the coast of the Atlantic ocean.

There Is a Lot to See in Aberdeen

Aberdeen is the so-called Granite City and is one of the largest in Scotland. It is famous also with its two universities: University of Aberdeen and Robert Gordon University. The city has many museums and historical places.

One of the places you definitely need to see is Aberdeen Maritime Museum. It is near the harbor and represents most of the Aberdeen history – from the shipbuilding to the oil industry. You can see there ship plans and photographs together with many other interesting things.

Next stop is Satrosphere Science Center which was opened in 1988. Its purpose was to inspire teenagers to become scientists and it offers 50 exhibits and science demonstrations. It is the first center of this kind opened in Scotland.

And last but not least, you must visit the Duthie Park Winter Gardens. They were opened in 1899, but a storm in 1969 destroyed everything and the greenhouse had to be rebuilt. Now this park is one of the biggest indoor gardens in Europe.

When you visit these interesting places, I am sure that you will want to see even more of this beautiful city. The best accommodation offered is Hilton Aberdeen. You can enjoy special spa treatment and scenic coastal views.

The Ideal Paris Trip

When you think of Paris, what is the first thing that comes to your mind? The Eiffel Tour or the Champs Elysées, fashion or bourgeois. It is all true, Paris is famous for all this. But there is much more to see and regular tourists tend to miss it.

It is a common practice to arrive in the morning at the air port and then to look for the Paris Hotels booked in advance. Most tourists prefer sleeping in hostels, but as comfort and good experience are concerned I'd choose a fine hotel that sleeping there for few nights will fit my budget such as Hotel la Defense. Take your time to find the right place to stay in Paris in order to make the trip worth.

You should get a travel guide, or you may take part in an organised trip around the city of lights. When you have already made the Big Tour, for those with travel guides, the best sight seeing tour is along the River Seine. You can just walk along the channel or take the boat bus. There is a day pass, so you can enjoy each tourist sight for as long as you want.

The Triumphal Arch is also an interesting place. Like the Eiffel Tower it also offers a magnificent view to night Paris. Just get on the top of it, but be prepared for the winds.

What is most worth is travelling with the metro around Paris. Go to Montmartre, or the Bastilles. Moulin Rouge is quite an interesting place, too.

Enjoy Paris as much as you can. Make it a journey of your life.

Hotel business and tourism are deeply connected. No wonder that the most glamorous hotels are located at in the busiest tourist destinations. So, let's start with the most visited capital in Europe: Paris.

Paris is also known as the city of lights. It is true, it boasts with one of the most sparkling decorations, especially in the winter. Hotel Paris Arc de Triomphe is the preferred place for accommodation and many other purposes. The hotel is perfectly located just one metro station away from the Triumphal Arch. Once you check in, you will be amazed by the art-deco interior. A spacious garden represents the very heart of the hotel. The French are world-famous "conneseur de vin", so you should not miss to the chance to taste some of the finest wines , specially selected by Hilton. If you want to make a holiday to remember, let it be in Hilton Paris.

My second favourite Hilton hotel is Rome Hilton hotel. You will never see a more pompous and stylish place than this. Hotel Cavalieri is an entire art-gallery, each room resemble an art chef-d’oeuvre. And the best part of the pleasure of being accommodated in this hotel is the splendid view of Rome by night. Few hotels can offer you this luxury. Rome is one of the most romantic old Roman cities. Hilton contributes to a never-to-forget holiday.
Hilton Caribe San Juan is a place in heaven. The perfect hotel to spend a hot and exotic summer. It lays in 12 exotic gardens in the Caribe peninsula. Feel the heat and enjoy staying in the perfect setting for a romantic holiday. Spa, wide swimming pool, crystal-clear sea water and golden beaches. For a summer time you will never forget.

Explore the City of Rome

Rome is one of the largest cities in Italy and as its capital, it is the most populated one also. It is situated on the Tiber River in the central-western part of the Italian Peninsula.

It is not a surprise that the tourism is very popular because of the many famous landmarks in this part of the country. If I have to be honest, this is my favorite city and the most interesting place in the world. There is a lot to see in Rome and you don't even know where to start from.

Place like the Colosseum should definitely be seen. The amphitheatre built for the the gladiator's great battles is one of the most visited as well as the Pantheon. The last one is one of the buildings that even today is a mystery for the specialists.

When you go to Rome, do not miss to visit St. Peter's Basilica, where you can hear the message of the Pope every Sunday. Together with the square in front of it, this is amazing place to see.

I am sure that you will not be able to do a trip in Rome for only a day. That is why there is hotel Cavalieri, where you can enjoy the best spa ever. It offers 5-star accommodation and is located only 5 minutes from the beautiful historic centre of Rome.

Cambridge – The Fastest Growing City

The city of Cambridge is situated nearly 50 miles in the north-northeastern of London. It is the fastest growing city in England, not only for its population but for its high technology. It is mostly popular about Cambridge University and about its interesting architecture. It makes it a great place to explore.

The best way to move around the city is cycling because the cars are kept away from the centre and the people have no other choice than using different kind of transport or hiring bikes.

Cambridge has a lot to offer you when it comes to its cultural side. Everybody knows about the famous Cambridge United F.C. The city as a whole is popular with the different sport clubs there: rugby, watersports, cricket etc.

Another place to visit in Cambridge is the Arts Theatre in the centre of the town. It is sometimes used for tea parties, motor shows or music events. Otherwise you can walk around the beautiful parks and gardens where you can have a wonderful time with your family or children.

When you choose your accommodation, you better stay in a hotel near the historic centre of the city. Such is Hilton Cambridge, where you can find the most luxurious meeting rooms and bedrooms.

Portugal, or Rome, or both!

The biggest problem for all tourists is to make the right choice where to go and of course when. It is not recommended to go to the mountains in the winter as it is not recommended to visit London in the fall. So you should pick the right time as well. Most of us plan their trips for the holidays, and the longest are the Christmas holidays. But it is snowing or at least raining.
If you do not have the pleasure to enjoy a long summer vacation, then as you cannot predict the weather at least choose the best place for your winter holidays. Cold is omnipresent but if you go south it is highly probable to visit a mild temperature location. Both Rome and Portugal can offer you warm weather almost all year long. The beaches are not suitable for sunbathing but why not take a long walk along the coast. you can manage to get a hotel with a perfect view like Vilamoura Hilton in Portugal or Roma Hotel Waldorf
But a good panoramic view is not enough. You should pay all tourist sights a tribute and dedicate at least an hour to each. Seeing it all is possible but do not be in a rush, just to have a quick look and then leave. Take your time.
Portugal is a beautiful place, as much as Italy. You can witness there the multicultural influence of the old times. As Lisbon used to be the centre of sea trade, so there are many historical artefacts worth your attention.
Rome is famous worldwide. So I can only tell you what you already know. The Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, but Italy as a whole is much more interesting than this.  All the Piazza-s and Pizzas, taste the original spaghetti and macaroni. Feel the Roman spirit and see all the art masterpieces scattered everywhere.
So If I was to choose only one place out of this two, I would probably wait for them moment when I would be able to visit both. What about you?
