The Walled City – San Juan

The most populated city in Puerto Rico was founded in 1521. It is the capital of the unincorporated US territory situated in northeastern Caribbean Sea. The country consists of a main island and a few smaller ones and has very rich history to reveal.

The city is divided into three areas. The most interesting one is the Old San Juan, which is very famous with its historical sights, great architecture and sculptures. When you visit it, you definitely should pass by The Poet's Passage – a small shop situated on City Hall square. There are Tuesday readings very popular amongst the people on the island.

San Juan was called the Walled City because of the colonial walls built by the Spanish in order to protect it from invaders. This is something that must be seen considering it is a famous landmark.

The good news is that the whole city could be seen without using any kind of transportation. Everything is on walking distance including the museums and the restaurants. But you surely won't be able to see all this for a day. That's why when choosing an accommodation, check San Juan Hilton hotel. It offers the most luxurious hotel rooms with amazing panoramic view.
