Paris: The Latin Quartier

Paris, once you have been there you will definitely comeback again. There is something, that you can feel only when you are there. Is this the real spirit of Paris, is it all about its rich history or grandiose monuments. You can never tell.
The best part of Paris is the River Seine and the surrounding area. it is called Ile de la Cité - one of the isles in the middle of the river. Here is the most ancient part side of Paris with Notre Dame, la Conciergerie and many more. Another interesting tourist destination is The Latin Quartier. On the left bank of River Seine is the hot spot for student meetings. This palace is the medieval university area. The Latin quartier is now filled with Greek or Middle Eastern restuarants and street performers. This is a famous location for street performances and shows.
It may be a busy place, with its cheap restaurants and exotic cuisine, but if you are looking for exquisite French cuisine, simply have a bite in Hotel la defense restaurant.
You can easily notice the minuscule Тhéâtre de la Huchette, where the troupe is staging la Cantatrice Chauve for 50 years now. get a glimpse of it. Musée National du Moyen Age - Thermes de Cluny is the only well-preserved Gothic house in Paris. It is one of the greatest museums in the French capital. The famous La Dame à la Licorne (the lady and the unicorn) tapestry can be seen there. It is a representation of the five senses and it is up to the spectator to uncover the sixth.
Having seen all this magnificent monuments and works of art, you can now relax and drink a glass of fine wine in any of the Arc de triomphe hotels.

  1. A very interesting introduction to "Le Quartier Latin".

The Greek restaurants are worth trying. Inexpensive but with good ingredients and a nice choice of wines.
