The Pantheon

There are a few interesting places where you can spend the holidays and according to me one of them is Rome. In one of the most ancient cities in Europe, you can find many things to do and many landmarks to visit, and of course luxury Rome hotels.

The capital of the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire is full of ancient buildings as the Pantheon, for example. It was build by Marcus Agrippa as a temple and its name means "to every god". People claimed that it name comes from the many statues of gods around it. The building is circular with a large opening to the sky and even today its dome is considered as one of the biggest in the world.

The Pantheon later was rebuilt by Emperor Hadrian and it is still one of the best preserved Roman buildings though it has been used all the time. During the period when it was known as "Santa Maria Rotonda", it was used as a Roman Catholic church.

There are many more interesting facts about the Pantheon, that you don't know but you can understand if you just visit it. Now it is the most appropriate time because you can take an advantage of the special holiday prices that many of the luxury hotels in Rome offer.
