Exploration and Scotland

Should you find yourself lucky enough to break away from your routine, it is always a great option to get out there and explore the differences between cultures. While many will hit the beaches of some exotic country like Cuba, Barbados, or even South Africa, Scotland offers its guests many of the same great attractions.
Alright, so while you stay at your hotel in Edinburgh centre you will be more than a ten minute walk to the beach, much further actually. Yet, what about spending an afternoon exploring the rolling hills of the West, or even partaking in a trek through the Highlands? These are merely a couple of suggestions of how one could spend a vacation in Scotland.

If you are looking to escape all the running around that is often associated with larger metropolises, feel free to explore many of the surrounding smaller cities that tourists tend to neglect. For instance, Ballater, Cairngorms, or even Perthshire are great alternatives to Edinburgh and Glasgow; this is not to say that they are better or worse, but we all have our preferences when it comes to traveling. These alternative travel destinations offer their guests a chance to experience a more traditional side of Scotland. You may find that not all that much has changed in some of these smaller cities and towns, as many of the locals have a very strong relation to their pasts. Yet, this is what makes them so enjoyable. You could spend an entire afternoon sitting in a local pub, passing the time conversing with one of the many welcoming locals. I know that many of the Perthshire hotels are mere minutes from such pubs. It is always a good idea to seek advice from locals on how to spend time in Scotland. These people are a wealth of knowledge, make sure to utilize their opinions.
