Secret Garden Party is – like Glastonbury – one of those festivals of the British summer that you really don’t want to miss due to the unique organizational style of its founders, based on the controlled anarchy that is to be found at Black Rock City in the Nevada desert at Burning Man each year.
The ethos of both festivals is based on participation and so one can get reduced prices on tickets if you’re willing to get involved and even grants for art installations such as giant tarantulas made from the innards of pianos or gargantuan dumb-bells that are too big to make ring.
If you are planning to get tickets to Secret Garden Party, I would also recommend getting yourself a room at one of the local hotels in Corby because the party really does continue twenty-four-seven over the three days and often spills out into the camping area so if you are planning to get any sleep you are going to have to find some alternative accommodation to a tent. The majority of the Corby hotels and bed and breakfasts that are near to the festival site are very comfortable considering how fantastically affordable they are so you can look forward to getting a good night’s sleep and so being refreshed for continuing festivities the next day.
One of the hot spots for having a good time at Secret Garden Party is at the juncture to the east of the lake where the disco-shed is situated next to the cider bus. Here you can enjoy deliciously warm Somerset cider with a splash of brandy while enjoying quality tunes from the skillful DJs to the left. There is also a fantastic Chinese stir fry stall right opposite so one literally need not move at all for the entirety of the three days if one were to so choose.
