London, A Unique Location
In order to survive your next vacation to London, England, you should
consider the following tips that I have compiled for your benefit.
While staying at a gatwick hotel
last summer, I not only had the opportunity to spend an abundance of
time in the countryside, but I also spent a fair share of days wandering
around the various tourist attractions that London has. I saw it all:
Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, and even Sherlock Holmes' loft.
What an adventure it all was.
Despite all the wonders and beauty of London, there are a few things
that you should know prior to arriving. For one, ordering breakfast in
London can be a headache for tourists, as the terminology differs quite
drastically. For instance, if you attempt to order eggs “over easy”, you
might as well be speaking in pig latin. If this is the meal that you
want, you need to state that you would like your eggs “lightly cooked”.
This is not a life and death situation, but if you want to avoid being
the butt end of a joke, keep it in mind.
As many people are already aware, drivers in London drive on the
opposite side of the road. This won't be an issue for someone from
Australia, where they practice similar road rules, but for someone from
North America this will be a little odd at first. Practice caution on
your first few days, in order to get used to looking the opposite way
when crossing roadways. When in doubt, look down on the sidewalk. You
have the correct direction to look written right at your feet.
Lastly, be careful with your money. Since there is a such a high
currency conversion rate between the United States and England, tourists
typically forget how much they are really spending on all those little
trinkets.
No matter where you are staying in London: Gatwick, Kensington, or even one of those fancy new heathrow t5 hotels I am sure you will enjoy your vacation.
